The esteros had been lending things to this series from the start: the beings, the rains, the paths. I made this work upon returning from there, and for the first time the whole landscape sat down to pose. There is a sun, there is grass, there is water. It belongs to Paisajes de Tiempos, my series of large ink drawings exploring the accumulation of time, and it is the softest and most luminous of them all: here the void I start from is not a closed black but a wash of India ink that breathes grey, and for the first time I let a color in: a pink ink sprayed with an industrial airbrush, the light I brought back. Over that ground I drew the grass, the water, the sun, with thousands of millimetric strokes of white ink: a meditation in which I give form to the void. Up close it is pure weave; from afar, light on water. That is how the light of the esteros is: it does not strike, it settles. I wanted the work to do the same.
